Fast NH 44 to Ambala, then via Kharar and Ropar to Kiratpur, where the four-lane to Ner Chowk is far quicker than the old hill road. After Mandi the Beas valley road narrows and has been hit by floods in recent monsoons, so check its status after heavy rain.
